Howdy!
This post will actually be on time
potentially.
- Today's song of the day was American Pie by Don McLean
it really got us through a lot today.
Today:
- Really super cool Ciandra bought us breakfast - Danishes and CROISSANTS (they were very yummy little bread circles)
- We also made the tragic discovery that Elena seemed to have misplaced the good speaker - we have yet to find it - an absolute tragedy... (edit: since the writing of this post, the speaker has been rediscovered. Bless the speaker gods above :>)
In Cleveland:
- We reached Cleveland around noonish probably
- We both also realized that, at this point, there won't be a single city on this trip where we don't stop to take pictures in a park, of flags, of the oh so beautiful lines littered literally everywhere, and probably statues
- there was a "very official guy in a suit with some flyers" who told us about some animals and then boosted real hard - alas, there were no animals - but we found some swanky mirrors and maybe a NASA building (shiny mirrors and space make sense together)
Then we boosted
That's when things got interesting...
We drove, on the OHIO TURNPIKE FOR SO LONG
That road, -1/10 do not recommend
places to pee: scarce
places to eat: scarcer
gas: nonexistent
CONVENIENT PLACES ALONG THE HIGHWAY FOR YOUR CAR TO FALL APART:
apparently a few but we did not hit those spots when we needed them like not even 10 minutes after lunch and caffeine. A national tragedy
- There was some laying on the ground under the car on the side of the side of the highway...
- no further comments there, other than the fact that we will never travel without medical tape and duct tape for the rest of our lives
(and we're also fine and were back on the road in about 30 minutes - American Pie - our savior and the wonderful human being who fixed our car :))
AFTER all the chaos, we did finally reach Detroit in one piece
In Detroit:
- We unfortunately couldn't stay long because of the car issues :( but it was still a cool city
- We also discovered that we should not be allowed to enter parking garages (we just stand in the middle of the road and take pictures of everything, we also just like can't drive... but w'ere going to ignore that fact)
- We saw pretty much the same things, but at this point we truly are heathens of habit so this is shocking to absolutely no one :)
- A side note, Jess will never stop taking pictures of flags, and Elena cannot go more than 6 minutes without taking a picture of something through something else
- Someone really nice told us about a river walk but alas we are lazy and did not want to walk that far (shocker there)
Once we boosted out of Detroit, we also realized that we keep missing every opportunity to take pictures of cool churches (it's a travesty, but we will probably continue doing it...)
In Ann Arbor: - Let me be really honest here
We are tired. You know? It's been a long day, we got up so early, had problems with the car, and did a lot of driving (so really, it's an "I really want some ice cream kinda night")
- We took some pictures around the hotel, and also around the Trader Joe's (artsy and so trendy wow wow, we'll take our awards for best Gen Z kids around now)
Tomorrow it's Indianapolis and Chicago
Live, Laugh, Love,
Kachow ;)
Lightnight MaQueen and Tow Mater
p.s. Elena has trouble spelling sometimes
